Microsoft .Net Instructions

Newtin applications require the .NET framework v3.5.  To determine if you have it already, and how to get it, visit the Microsoft website's page What is .NET Framework. 

Newtin Applications also require that the display settings be set to a minimum of 1024 x 768 and have a DPI setting of "Normal" (96dpi)

Newtin requires communication with the server on port 80 (HTTP).  By default, Internet Explorer will sandbox all applications and limit their functionality.  To allow the Newtin to run, you must setup Internet Explorer to trust the host web site.  To do this, follow these steps.

I : Setup Internet Explorer

1. Open Internet Explorer

2. Select "Internet Options" from the Tools menu.

3. Click the "Security" tab.

4. Click the "Trusted sites" Icon.

5. Find in the lower portion of the dialog the area for "Security level for this zone".

6. Verify that the level is set to "Low".  If necessary, click the 'Custom Level' button and at the bottom of the dialog displayed, select "Low" and click the "Reset" button.

7. Click the "Sites" button to open the trusted sites list.

8. If checked, uncheck the "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone" option.

9. In the "Add this Web site to this zone:" field, enter the host server: https://*.digalert.org
   Click the "Add" button to add the site to the Web sites list.

10. Click OK to dismiss the Trusted Sites window.

11. Click OK to dismiss the Internet Options window.

II : Install .NET Framework v3.5

Newtin applications require the .NET framework v3.5 in order to run. While attempting to run a Newtin application and you do NOT have it installed, you will be prompted to do so. The following steps outline how to install the required framework.

1. Click on your desired Newtin application from your Newtin Menu

2. Windows will prompt asking if you want to run this application. Click "run"

3. Windows may present this prompt

   1. Click "More info"

   2. Now the prompt will let you run this program

   3. Click "Run anyway"

4. Now, Windows will present the prompt to download and install the required .NET framework v3.5

5. Click on "Download and install this feature".  You may need administrative rights to perform this task depending on your network.

6. Let Windows download and install the .NET framework.

7. Once installed, you may now open your Newtin application as you normally would.

Manual Setup:

If you wish to install the .NET framework v3.5 manually, you may do so by downloading the framework from https://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=26. Once downloaded, you may run the installation to install the framework. You may need administrative rights to perform this task depending on your network.
